Bertie and Bread

Today I made home made bread and it actually worked quite well. Looks good eh! And it only cost about 30p to make, bargain! I think next week, I am going to try making fancy bread with cheese and herbs and what not, I will make sure I share the recipe.

Other than making bread I have also been finishing off Bertie the blue table and have taken some new pictures of him with his lovely glass top on, all done and ready for sale HERE, go and have a look at him, he's only on for a starting price of £25.. thats the second bargain of the day and he could be yours!

Bertie the blue table

Here is a little sneak peek at Bertie the blue table. I have been working on him for a while, and couldn't find the right sort of top for him, but I think this gorgeous, vintage inspired cat paper works beautifully and I've added a bit of lace, which look great when the glass top is placed down and I have crinkled the paper slightly for a bit of texture.. lovely...well that's my opinion anyway!

Bertie will be up for sale tomorrow for only £40, he is the perfect side/coffee table and also makes a good tv tray / laptop table, as Bertie was originally part of a nest of tables, he has one scalloped edge missing which means you can slide your legs underneath him easy peasy!!

I will put up some more pictures tomorrow along with some pictures of my home made bread, which I am attempting to do first the first time tomorrow, wish me luck!!!

Happy Birthday

Last week was my lovely friend Lydia's birthday, so I thought I would share the little presents I got for her!
The first thing I have to show you, is the lucky stars I made for her, they are made in a very similar way to the origami hearts I made a week or so go, but they are a lot harder and a lot of them got scrumpled up and fed to the dog! I will do a "how to", when I am a little less irritated by them! I have used 4 different kinds of paper and drawn messages and faces on the plain white stars and then popped them all in a jar, lovely!!

If you fancy it, you can put them in a bowl?! I think my logic with this was that they looked  bit like cereal...

My favorite shop in Winchester is The Hambledon, they supply a gorgeous array of gifts and hand made typey bits, like the little bits below; writing set, full of papers and enevelopes, labels and what not, a lovely little harmonica and a funny little cat card. So that was the second part of my present to her, all wrapped up in my favorite paper and tied up n string, done!!

Mondays Armchair Activity

Why hello there! I hope you all had a very good weekend. My brain has been a little fried with work and what not, so today I bring you a very simple armchair activity.. pheeww!
Right so if you are anything like me, then you probably have a huge collection of scarfs that you can't possibly wear as often as you should, so do something productive with them and turn them into.....

This is the most simple thing in the world, all you need are some silk scarfs, done!

Fold your scarfs into triangle, top tip - if you have large scarfs fold them a couple of times so they aren't too huge, unless that's what your after.

Now take the corners of your scarfs and tie them in a little knot.

Carry on knotting all your scarfs together, mix and match which colours go best together and then hang them up, easy and a good way of adding a bit of texture to a room or plain wall.

Cake Toppers

I am bringing you cake toppers today!! (Ignore the fact that I have eaten half of the cake already.. Sorry!) These were really easy to do and will jazz up any cake or party, You know what, you can even personalise them, which is always a nice touch for a homemade cake. Something along these lines would be quite good for a homemade style wedding too and all you need are kebab sticks and paper!

And when your done making useful things you can then move on to moustaches and glasses and masks and anything else you can think of really, makes dressing up a little easier hey!

New Paper!

Only a short post today because I am on my way out the door but I thought I should share the new paper I purchased today! They are massive sheets and I am in love with the car paper and the colours on the floral paper.. I am thinking they will make good bunting but let me now what you think. Night

Hippos and logos

So I have spent my evening making logos and messing about with editing software and now I want to cry!! Today has been one of those days where nothing you do goes right! I spent about 2 hours, prior to the malarky below, trying to make a cushion that looks like a hippo/has a hippo on it... needless to say they do not look anything like hippos, drawing was just not working for me today and considering this cushion is supposed to be given as a gift tomorrow, I think it's safe to say that that won't be happening. That means that I will be up at the crack of dawn to go shopping.... I am a very bad person.

Mondays Armchair Activity

Hello Hello!!
Happy Monday,  I hope you all had a good weekend, as per usual mine was spent working, crafting and to be honest a lot of it was spent attempting to learn how to use "gimp" photo editing software... the extent of my limited talents can be seen below (don't worry I am getting better!!)
So other than doing lovely activities for you today I also have to spend some time sorting out my boyfriends mums birthday present and also my lovely friend Lydia's too oh my its going to be busy!!
Anyway here it goes...

MONDAYS ARMCHAIR ACTIVITY WOOOPPP!

Today we are making a.... Decoupage Canvas (or anything else you fancy covering in fabric and paper!!)

First you need to collect your goodies, a canvas, paper, fabric, lace, pens, pva glue and a brush.

Then cover your canvas in pva.

Now stick down anything and everything you fancy.

 Then stick down more stuff.

And once your done sticking everything down, then cover the whole piece in a layer of pva and then let it dry out... and it should then look like this;

As we discussed earlier in this easy activity, you can use pretty much anything for this, a vase, a glass, a jar, a box, a frame and anything else. But not an animal, oh and if you don't wanna get glue on your sofa then maybe you could do this activity on a tray and then on the sofa!!

Yellow Yellow Yellow

Hello!! Have a look at my lovely yellow pot plants!!
They were being used as storage for my utensils and what not in my kitchen and I thought I would jazz them up whilst I was painting my table.
I've then added a bit of lace and some hessian string.

I am now off to search for massive metal letters to put in my house, you know like letters from old theater signs!! Have a good weekend everyone!

Bob, Gerald and Yasmin

All day today spent making these 3 beauts!! I am well chuffed with myself!!
Bob the blue table has been topped with some fabric from Ikea which matches the cushions in my living room, he makes a perfect little side table and tucks neatly away into a corner when you don't need him!
Yasmin will match him when she's done too and they have another big blue brother, Pics will follow in the next few days when I am done with them!
And then there is Gerald my green mirror, he was sanded down by Richy and I think he looks amazing!! Right so I am going to go and relax and crisps and what not now!! Night!!

Nesting Tables

I realise that this post should have gone out 12hours ago.. but better late than never eeh?!!

Yesterday I purchased some amazing nesting tables with glass tops yay!!
My intention is to keep the small one (paint it tourquoise) and sell on the other two.
I am going to paint and distress them too and then I am going to put some fabric under the glass, simples!
So I thought I would share some of the pictures from last night with you, including my mess of a dining room while I painted everything blue!!

Salt and Pepper Pugs

I truely feel that these are the best things I have ever ever purchased.. my salt and pepper shaker pugs, by Quail!!! AAAAAHHH!!!

I found them on ebay by mistake and they go for between £15-£20, there aren't many of them on there so if you want them you better be quick!
I really like the high gloss finish and attention to detail, although I feel there could be a bit more on the black pug. Although saying that, its quite hard to see detail on a black pug even when they are sitting in front of you.

My genuine excitement may have driven me to insanity because what you are about to see next, is, to be honest, quite disturbing.... Behold Pugs on Tour.....
